Norway in HD is for the most part shot on location in western Norway – the part of the country where you will find some of the most impressing and dramatic fjords like the Geiranger Fjord, the Sogne Fjord, and the Hardanger Fjord, along with myriads of smaller and lesser known, but still awesome, fjords.

I live next to a small fjord myself, the Førlands Fjord, and I hope you agree that the view from my garden (as can be seen in some of the episodes) is also quite spectacular. :-)

I started this project in order to share some of the magnificent moments I experience while moving about in this country either as part of my work or in private. I wanted to share my passion for this region, its culture and people with you wherever you may be.

The feedback on my project has been extremely encouraging and just knowing that there is an audience out there that share my passion and the moments I am able to pass on keeps me going for more.

This podcast is not 100% dedicated to fjord scenery alone, but it is inevitable that most of the episodes will at least be shot in or near one of the fjords. Maybe I will be showing life in a coastal village along the coast in the outer perimeter of one or more of the fjords, or showing impressive waterfalls close to one of them, or maybe even a close inspection of mountains that can be seen from one of the fjords. The Norway fjords are always present and within short distance at any given point in this part of the country.

When my work or private travelling brings me to other parts of the country I will, of course, share this experience with you as well. I’m even looking for partners who would like to contribute to this project with their own material.

I hope one day you will be able to visit Norway and our fjords in person. Until then, please let me be your guide and join me for the next episodes of Norway in HD.

Norway is the result of a global warming that happened roughly 10,000 years ago.

It was covered by a mile high glacier when the disaster struck and the ice melted and revealed the land. While melting the ice carved huge U-shaped cracks in the granite layers underneath.

These "cracks" or fjords, like the famous Sognefjord, could go as deep as 1,300 m (4,265 ft) below sea level and be surrounded by steep mountains.

It is just that juxtaposition of mountains and sea that makes the fjords so fascinating. The colors of the fjords can be mind-blowing even for a person living here.

A visit to the fjords, particularly in May, is time well spent. Snow capped mountains, eerie green mountainsides, blue sea and apple blossom is an unbeatable combination.

And if you are not able to come here and experience it on your own I will try to capture some of the action for you. :-)
